I was in the yard with my pups the other day. As I was picking up toys, Dickens began to bark playfully. I looked over to him, expecting that he was taunting Kacie, something he often does. You can see it, if you look down at the shoreline … the uneasy ice identifies one of the many springs that keep Spring Lake filled full.

I wish you could sit with me, on the lakeshore at sunset, listening to the ice cracking and shifting beneath our feet.

The cranky cracking sounds begin from across the lake … and the sounds seem to last for minutes … and the cracking continues to run straight and right under our feet.

When you venture out on the ice, it’s not enough to BELIEVE that the ice is safe; you have to KNOW that the ice is safe. Otherwise, you could get a frigid bath! Or, worse.

There was a beautifull sunset this day, out and over Progress Estates in Spring Lake. I guess you have to live here to know what I mean. Still, I hope you enjoy this view. I sure did!

Soft, blue lights fade … into darkness.

Today, I saw an osprey scoping out the tower in The Park. I wonder if we’ll be treated to a nesting pair this year. I have my doubts, due to development within yards of the tower. I emailed my concerns to Three Rivers Park District, but they must be busy celebrating spring …

Like we all should be!
