A Day for Smurfs!

A loony day? I should have said a ‘cartoony day’ … like a day for Smurfs!

A miserable mix of rain and sleet moved in this afternoon. I found myself sitting and serving some homeless friends in Mpls.
As Willie talked about being rousted by the cops on Tuesday (tarps and tents cut, knife and spoon confiscated, jacket ripped in the scuffle) he reminded me of one of those cartoon characters; a Smurf. It must have been the gloves, but it ain’t funny.
I left my friend Willie and came home to this day’s sunset blessing. The lake was still. The air was thick with wanna-be snow; just the kind of quiet and stillness that draws Loons to Spring Lake, Minnesota. But, will they find a home here?
My homeless veteran friend, Willie, has had trouble finding a home lately; at least, for the past thirty-five years.
He does have a home in my heart, for whatever good that does …? More important, he has a Heavenly Home in our Creator’s Heart … I hope he remembers that most of the time.
