Today's Sunset, January 31th

If you've never been on a snow-covered lake at sunset, you don't know quiet. Today's sunset was as dark as it was quiet.

What a way to end the month, with more cold and quiet and dark to come.

Today's Sunset, January 30th

I had company in the house and outside, the wind was just too damn cold. I got so cold taking this picture ... I couldn't even face today's sunset!

I snapped this shot ... went inside to warm up ... and then, I watched the best of today's show from the warmth of my home ... in the company of friends.

Today's sunset was seen best in the scene I seen with my friends; I didn't get a picture of that, sorry.

Today's temperatures are going the same way as today's sun; DOWN.

Today's Sunset, January 28th

We got the cold we were expecting; along with minus 25 degree wind-chills.

The cold is bound to stick around a lot longer than this sun.

Today's Sunset, January 27th

A North wind stings my cheeks as I sit and watch this day’s sunset. The wind hints of cold air to come in the future.

Soft clumps of clouds blow across the horizon and drop icy crystals in my view. I hope I’m alive to see what tomorrow brings.

Hope you are too!

Just one of those days, eh?

Today's Sunset, January 25th

This is where today's sunset found me ... with my friend, Willie, at his home in Clump of Woods.

It was a fine sunset today, eh?

Today's Sunset, January 24th

It may not look like much here, but for me it was the beginning of a new day.

Enjoy!

Today's Sunset, January 23rd

Thank you, Lord ... for another day!

Another fine sunset from Waconia, Minnesota!
Another fine day, wherever God planted your soul!

Today's Sunset, January 21st

Just one of those suns that never seemed to want to set!

Today's Sunset, January 20th

This day's sun casts a shadow on the future.

Of course, I'm posting this tomorrow, because my computer crashed!

Sorry, friends. Thank you, God!

Today's Sunset, January 18th

Feelin' just about as grey as the day has been ...
Glad the day has finally come to it's soft end.

Today's Sunset, January 17th

This day’s sunset view is from where I viewed it. It was still pretty, although I wasn’t looking out over Spring Lake.
I was in a homeless 'camp' in Minneapolis; my friends and I were looking east. (Thank you, Willie and 'Trailer Tom' for tonight's fellowship.)
Thank You, Father, for another sunset surprise!

Today's Sunset, January 16th

The soft red glow of this day’s sunset seemed to last forever …
Or about 20-minutes longer then my toes!
For now, I sit at home alone ...
My toes, toasty warm!
Certianly, God has blessed my day ...
Again.
ummmmmm

Tonight's Sunset, January 15th

With the cold and the snow,
Comes some fun in the sun!

What can I say, eh?

Tonight's Sunset, January 14th

A light snow began to fall late this afternoon. It was a snowy mist of icy crystals that stung my exposed flesh like mosquitoes biting me in the winter.

Sunset comes later each evening this time of year. I had to wait a moment for this view.

As the snow falls tonight, Spring Lake is quiet. What I enjoy most is the quiet.

Tonight's Sunset, January 11th

The day ends softly ... with the hint of a hard cold to come!
Lord willing, we will survive.

Tonight's Sunset, January 10th

I sit and ponder this wondrous view ...
tonight's sunset, too soon gone.

(I hope you click on the photo to see a larger panoramic view!)

Phew.

Tonight's Sunset, January 9th

Men try in vain
to catch the sun ...
Before they know,
their days are done.

Tonight's Sunset, January 8th

Soup tonight!

Tonight's Sunset, January 7th

I looked up at the evening sky,
a blurry blanket of gray
swept across my view.

Suddenly,
an explosion of yellow light
burst out upon the horizon.
A soft, pink glow lit up the clouds from below.

It was over in a matter of seconds.
At least, it was over for me.

I won't see another view like this until ...

Tonight's Sunset, January 6th

I take the time to reflect on my day; to consider what I have learned, and what I have taught.
I hope to live another day: I could be kinder; I could help others more.
I would love to see another sunset like this one, Lord.

Tonight's Sunset, January 5th

Hardly cold outside.
Hardly a sound coming from out on the ice.
Hardly any sunlight left in the day.
Hardly any reason for me to just sit here.

I'm movin' on.

Tonight's Sunset, January 4th

All's well on the Northern front.

Looks pretty good out West, too.

Wednesday, January 03, 2007

Tonight's Sunset, January 3rd

Another fine day. But, windy.
The wind is blowing this bullrush apart.

I doubt it matters much, in the scheme of things.

Tuesday, January 02, 2007

Tonight's Sunset, January 2nd

Colder today, with a stiff wind.
I 'bout froze my hands.
I'll be out here tomorrow ... Lord willing.

Tonight's Sunset, January 1st

What a way to begin a New Year!
Phew.

Today's Gift to Me

I captured last night’s sunset.
Wrapped it tightly and secure.
I plan to carry it daily
Throughout the coming year.

Now, whenever I begin to worry,
About a future I cannot see,
I’ll pull out this shrink-wrapped picture
And remember what used to be.
